(she/her)
  • Postdoctoral Trainee

Alicja is driven by a passion for tackling complex challenges in cancer care. With a background in pharmacy (PharmD, Medical University of Białystok, Poland) and a PhD in oncology research earned at the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland, she studied how tumor-derived extracellular vesicles influence cancer progression and promote angiogenesis through the comprehensive characterization of hypoxic sEVs.

She gained further experience in exosome-mediated crosstalk within the tumor microenvironment during her two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in the laboratory of Dr. Theresa Whiteside. There, her work focused on the characterization of DNA carried by small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) and its potential horizontal transfer to immune cells.

Her goal is to translate scientific discoveries into meaningful improvements in patient treatment and outcomes. Combining clinical insight with research innovation, she is committed to advancing personalized and effective cancer therapies.

Outside of research, Alicja enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including volleyball, ice skating, snowboarding, and dancing.
